SHE WHO DREAMS IN WAX

Every great dream begins with a dreamer, and every dreamer likes to fly. Park wanted to fly and discover the world. But in the beginning it wasn't yet real, or yet realized. She was born behind the Iron Curtain when the Soviet Union (USSR) was making a big effort to block itself and its satellite states from open contact with the West and their allied states. The country's border crossing restrictions limited the flying space for most of its citizens, but ultimately not her. For we all know there are no real barriers when you have a strong desire to accomplish something.

She began to fly on the wings of her imagination, taking flight on sunny days or rainy ones, soaring over the continents, oceans and islands. She could fly in the spring revival of nature or in the autumn decadence, finding beauty in both. She could begin her flight early in morning, catching her dreams from the light of the sunrise or in the evening time, searching for her dreams in the shadows of the dusk. Park was full of dreams from a very young age.

Her dreams are anchored in her birth town Ghindesti located in the Floresti District in the Northern part of Moldova and rooted in a family where her father was an engineer and her mother a tailor. There she found the taste of colors, lights and forms; sometimes sweet, sometimes bitter and sometimes sour, but always enjoyable. She was captivated by it all and wanted to save those experiences and elusive visions that so easily vanish while you are waking up. The way to keep them was to immortalize them to endure for years. So, one day she started to dream in wax.

It was in 2000 when a close friend of hers returning from Netherlands brought her the first set of wax and supplies, giving her new wings for those dreamy flights without fear of failure. She was taken with this media from the very beginning and used it to holdfast her dreams through this encaustic art form. She knew if dreams die, life becomes a broken-winged bird that cannot fly. Dreams in WAX began as a hobby while she was working full-time as an interior designer in her native country, the Republic of Moldova. She enjoyed her work and found that many of her dreams could be transposed in client projects, making them happy, and making her happy in return. But, she soon realized there were many more dreams to share, so she dove into encaustic painting.

Dreams in WAX is one of her ways to share that beauty that comes from within, from her dreams, passion and love. Each painting is unique, individual, and captures those elusive visions that so easily vanish, yet are saved in each of her paintings. In recent years, Park began to share her passion with others through these paintings, literally transforming her dreams into a business she is passionate about.
